M505 사용자는 꼭 읽어보세요 정말 어처구니가 없는 문제군요..... 갑자기 sync가 안되서 사방팔방 알아보니 아래와 같은 글이 있더군요... 요약해서 말씀드리면 잘되다가 갑자기 USB sync가 안될경우가 발생되는데 원인은 아래를 읽어보시고요 해결방법은 분해해서 완전히 밭데리를 분해해야 문제가 해결된다고 하네요.. 근본적으로는 기기 교환을 해야 하겠죠.. 이런문제가 생기면 바로 교환하세요 교환안되면 이거 생길때마다 이짓을 해야 하다니......... SUDS stands for Sudden USB Death Syndrome and refers to a problem with M500 series handhelds where USB synchronisation stops working. It is usually found on the M505 model, althought there are some rare reports of it happening with M500 or M515 models. Serial and Infrafred communications are not affected. It is caused by static electricity entering the Palm through the universal connector while it is being placed in the cradle and confusing the USB circuitry onboard the Palm. The circuitry needs to be reset by cutting power to it to fix the problem. A hard reset does not do this ?the circuitry has to have all power removed. To repair SUDS, the best and official method, if it is under warranty, is to return it to Palm for repair and replacement. You should not pay any advance shipping fee for a SUDS replacement. Some unsupported home-grown repair methods have also been developed. Firstly, by using the 밺ot-three?shortcut you can disable the palms auto-power off, and then leave it on until the battery is completely discharged. This will cut the power and reset the USB circuit. This may or may not invalidate your warranty (we have conflicting reports). Since the lifetime of the battery in an M500 series Palm is determinded by the number of complete power cycles, a deep discharge will slightly shorten the battery life of the handheld. To activate a dot-three?shortcut write a cursive L (the shortcut symbol mentioned in the user manual) then a dot, then the number three. A soft reset is needed to undo this. To see a picture of the shortcut symbol, go to MemoPad, open a new memo, and tap Menu > Edit > Graffiti Help. Scroll down once, and the Shortcut symbol is the last symbol on the display. Secondly, it is possible with the right tools (a Torq T5 is needed) to open the casing of the handheld and disconnect the battery from the motherboard for a few moments. This definitely does void the warranty. Lastly, a few extremely confident/brave/foolhardy electrical engineers have wired the reset pin on the PDIUSB12 USB Controller chip to the reset button of the Palm, so that a soft reset also resets the USB controller. This definitely does void the warranty, and might make your handheld explode. Apart from repairs, Palm also has a means of helping prevent SUDS in the first place. The Enhanced cradle has some extra wiring in it to reduce the chances of static entering the Palm. It can be identified by an 밇?or 밐?marked on the base. All recent palms have shipped with this cradle, including all M515 models. Palm will replace non-enhanced cradles in the US and Canada, and plans programs in other countries. You can also follow standard anti-static procedures; for example touching a metal part of your computer before syncing to ground yourself. srich2699 suggests another protective method is to cover the edge connector when not in use, for example with electrical insulating tape or by using a case that covers the connector. Note that you should not immediately leap to the conclusion that your Palm has SUDS because it has stopped syncing; you should check for other things first, such as a mis-configuration in Palm Desktop.
집에 와서 m505 뒷면의 나사 네 개를 풀고, 뒷면의 은색 바디 부분을 떼어냈습니다. 이 때 나사를 풀었다고 바로 떨어지는 게 아닙니다. 몸체 가운데의 검은 부분에 걸려 있는 상태이기 때문에, 얇은 일자 드라이버 등으로 홈을 따라가며 조금씩 젖혀주어야 합니다.
뒷뚜껑을 떼어내면 기판이 보이고, 넓적한 배터리와, 배터리에서 나온 전선 두 가닥이 기판에 연결된 것이 보입니다. 그 잭을 잠시 뽑아내었다가 다시 연결했습니다.
연결한 직후에 팜이 저절로 전원이 켜지면서 로고가 깜박깜박거리더군요. 망했구나 싶었는데 침착하게 하드리셋하니까 괜찮아졌습니다. 하드리셋한 직후에도 여전히 깜박거렸는데, 본체를 꽉 쥐어서 뒷뚜껑을 밀착시켰더니 up/down 버튼 중에 하나를 누르라는 메세지가 보이더군요.
이후에 나사를 다시 조이고, 확장카드에 백업해 두었던 데이타를 복원한 후 핫싱크를 시도했습니다. 성공!
